- Musical Biography
- Layla "Parisi" Peters graduated from Indiana University in 2002 with a degree in telecommunications and a minor in music. While at Indiana University, she was a member of the prestigious Singing Hoosiers and Vocal Jazz. Her musical resume since graduation has included back-up and lead vocals with various classic rock and country cover bands over the past six years. Layla now explores her talents as a solo artist while she performs in a variety of settings to include many local artistic establishments. Her musical inspiration is drawn from such artists as Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos and the Beatles. The emotional inspiration behind her original pieces comes from the years of separation from her husband while deployed overseas with the military in the Middle East. Her sweet sound combination of soprano voice and acoustic guitar complements the numerous original songs she has developed in addition to her tributes to the classic, alternative and folk rock genres. Many who hear her compare her to artists such as Jewel and Sarah McLachlan yet with her own brand of originality.
